dumb as a painter
There is a great expression I learned from Dali it is "dumb as a painter." The meaning behind it is that painters and artists are usually (hopefully) good at what they do but when it comes to anything else in life they are barely functional. Dali could not even take a cab himself or handle money... I just went to CVS to buy a can opener because I have lots of cans of tuna and no way to open them. I get home from the store and look in my bag---two new cans of tuna, one sobe energy drink, oatmeal and no can opener. I look at my receipt and there is no can opener on it. Looks like I will be eating pizza for lunch again. Damn CVS.
