sun spots

I got an email from a friend in seattle..she said it has been so cold there that her tomato plants wont grow. I have done some research and it seems to me that sunspots have a large connection to global cooling or warming. I think nature is not so easily tweaked by mankind and that we are not quite as important or impactful (word?) as we think.
