picasso---night fishing at antibes
I have mixed feelings about the genius that was/ is Picasso. For some reason I love this painting and its colors.
book of the day
gardega says:
I have a solution to deal with these trying times. turn off TV and play classical music at home. It will soothe the brain and the nerves and keep you focused on your mission in life. I recommend Mozart.
an eye towards tomorrow
carbon checkpoints, climate cops, consolidation--- we are slipping into a 1984 one world government. The government will take over our financial institutions in our "new world order gov't banking system." Every facet of out lives will be micro-managed and controlled by a totalitarian government. Our thermostats will be controlled from the outside and our consumption and lives will be monitored. I recommend everyone read (or re-read) 1984 and Brave New World--- There was more to Orwell and Huxley than mere fiction--- This goes beyond left and right and I hope I am typing is only so much gibberish. If you want to know what the future will be like go stand in the Dept of motor vehicles for a few hours. Remember what Orwell said ---"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a black boot stamping on a human face--forever" Sorry to sound grim---back to my paints! There is always hope in humans--I hope.

quote of the day--louis pasteur
Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal. My strength lies solely in my tenacity.

photo of the day---
most photography (in my humble opinion) is simply junk, the side effect of a digital art too easy to master.. There are places where I think photography elevates itself to the level of art and rises above prostituted pet photos and commercial bunk...War photography is something that is very important (I believe) in that it helps us to see what really goes on in conflict and takes beyond the nightly news and into the trenches.. It often reminds me of Goya and his horror of war pictures--- I am not sure it is a sun I would choose to stare into but I believe it has a real purpose in the world.
truisms
There is one truism I have found to ring true time and time again--- That is the idea that no good deed goes unpunished. If you would like to test this maxim I simply recommend helping out a few people or friends--get them jobs--find them a career--hook them up with your contacts...etc etc..it is strange how quickly your good deed gets not only forgotten but how it will turn against you in the end. I am not saying that one should stop doing good things for other people, I just find find human nature endlessly interesting. I think the human brain carries a built in resentment mechanism that is triggered by certain acts of goodness. Human nature is not stranger than you think, it is stranger than you can think...

Donation for auction
Ugly frame aside--this is an original Ambassador Queens yellow page painting of The Unisphere from the former worlds fair site in Queens. This is being donated to an auction to help preserve the existing site as it is in need of repair. I have painted this globe five times so I have developed an affinity for it. This was used for the 2006-2007 book cover. I simply dropped it into an existing frame that I owned to photograph it. Painting on yellow is a strange thing that forces yo uto think in very graphic color terms...I developed this style in the 11th hour as the art director drove all the way to my old apt in long island to pick up the painting..in a fit of desperation I began to attack the painting with flying colors and my fingers and what I thought was a failure--- they loved..after five years I now like my yellow page "style"
chiropractor
This is Ellen Coyne. She is a chiropractor who contacted me from the upper west side after reading about me in the post. She offered to give me a chiropractic session in exchange for a picture. I was always afraid of the thought of getting your bones popped and cracked--she did a wonderful job..she seemed to think my body and bones was like a car that had hit a tree at about 140 MPH. (I was always getting hurt as a kid) I feel like a new car now and may return soon for a tune up. It seems there really is something to the art of the chiropractor. I will post her info soon.
etched birch wall
Here are some weak photos of my "three month project" for Aspen Social Club on 47th street. I actually had to go on location yesterday and add five trees using an acid solution (which I had never used before) somehow I managed to make it work. The total estimated weight of this three layer wall is about 1,600 pounds. Unfortunately photos do not show the depth effect of three layers of glass. Given the time constraints and delays I only had about a week to actually sandblast the entire project..In the end I am happy and the client is very happy. skin of my teeth is how I describe pulling out a project of this size in time.

update
today I finished 100%--- finito--done--- my etched glass wall that consumed three stressful months of my life...my photos are not capturing the real scope of the wall so I will add the photos that are being professionally shot soon. I am exhausted and worn out...on a good note... it may be in a national glass magazine very soon. Tomorrow I will start paying attention to my blog again and working on new projects. My wall is in Stay hotel/ Aspen social club on 47th st. between 6 and 7th avenue.
overheard on the street
today, I heard a homeless guy with a shopping cart telling a doorman--- "soon everybody gonna be out here doin' what Im doin"

bloomberg colors
today I received a UPS package from Wisconsin...Enclosed in the package are paints that are used to paint firearms. Bloomberg tried to ban these paints so they could not be used. I was shipped a bunch for free and I have a great idea for some art that will unfold very soon..these colors were named the bloomberg colors in honor of mayor bloomberg. I am afraid of guns and I am lucky I am allowed to use a metal fork but I do believe in the constitution and that is the impetus for my upcoming art piece/ work of genius...
bubbles
today it occurred to me that we simply drift from financial bubble to financial bubble---
dot com bubble.
housing bubble
derivative bubble
It seems that bubbles always burst--- I have a solution we use cubes----cubes are strong and as a child you never saw one of your toy blocks explode like a bubble.

voting
Here is my theory on voting...whomever the media is pushing the most in your face--- vote the opposite. Even if you dont like the person. I prefer the contrarian position in art and stocks and life. If I lived in a conservative city, I would be a liberal. If everyone painted realistically I would paint abstract. I consider myself a release valve for group-think. My personal opinions and thoughts hold no weight and it is most important to go against the grain.

glass wall installation
infinitas
I found this rubber band on my floor---I really like this geometric shape. I think this is a much better symbol of infinity than the traditional one invented by the mathematician john wallis in 1665..I would like this to be the new symbol for infinity discovered by gardega in 2008.
infinity---you may think about it, you shall not realize it...
photography
people sometimes ask me if I think there is art in photography----My reply is always the same---yes there is art in photography (if one is speaking in terms of anagrams.)
